Epidemiology of cancers in women

Abstract Epidemiology of cancer in women has been presented in only a few published reports in the literature. This chapter attempts to summarize contemporary burden, trends, and risk factors of cancers in four sites (uterine corpus, ovary, cervix, and breast) that account for more than 60% of cancer burden among women. Deaths due to cancer are generally higher in women from low- and middle-income countries despite lower incidence rates. This burden can be substantially reduced through perception of the risk factors discussed in this chapter.
