An order-disorder transformation in Hg3In2Te6

Abstract An order-disorder transformation has been observed in the semiconducting compound Hg 3 In 2 Te 6 . Extinction of superlattice X-ray reflections and a kink in the temperature dependence of electrical resistivity show that the change from an ordered to a disordered structure is complete at 595 ± 5°K.
