Sol Gel preparation of mesoporous Al{sub 2}O{sub 3} and TiO{sub 2} membranes

Mesoporous {gamma}-Al{sub 2}O{sub 3} and TiO{sub 2}-layers can be produced by a sol-gel dipping technique. Occurring problems as phase transformations and crack formation during drying were discussed. Phase transformations which break up the nanoporous microstructure were successfully presented or shifted to higher temperatures by changing the sol composition. The crack formation during drying was inhibited by adding suitable additives.
