PD33-05 MITROFANOFF CONTINENT URINARY DIVERSION : BETTER LIFE CONFORT IN SPITE OF SURGICAL COMPLICATIONS

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES:To evaluate the psychological repercussions, the degree of adaptation to daily life and the complications of patients with a Mitrofanoff continent external urinary diversion (MCEUD).METHODS:Between 1992 and 2018, 180 patients underwent bladder augmentation using ileum and continent urinary diversion using Mitrofanoff procedure in our institution. 122 patients (67.7%), 66 males and 56 females, were questioned about their diversion, concerning their living conditions. We used a self-administered questionnaire of 19 items translated in their spoken language. In addition, we reviewed the cases of patients who had complications after a minimum of 5 years postoperative follow-up.RESULTS:The appendix was used in 161 cases (89.3%). All patients were continent, including 6 after local stoma revision and 7 after bladder neck closure. The self-survey was easy in 103 cases (84.4%).
