The invention relates to a continuous process for production of fatty acid by at least one fatty acid of formula I wherein R with at least one amine of the formula II wherein R is converted to an ammonium salt and said ammonium salt is reacted under microwave irradiation in a reaction tube, whose longitudinal axis is located in the propagation direction of the microwaves of a monomode microwave for fatty acid amide.
