Design and analysis of a longitudinal piezoelectric vibration exciter

2012
This paper is about the analysis and design of a longitudinal piezoelectric vibration exciter, which is required to produce forces that are more than 10N from 100Hz to 2kHz. The device consists of three main parts- the rear plate, driving element and working end. Equivalent Circuit Method (ECM in short) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA in short) are used to choose the material and size of each part. By analyzing the frequency-force spectra of FEA models with different sizes and working loads, the structure of the longitudinal piezoelectric vibration exciter is finally determined. Apart from fulfilling the basic requirement, it can also be effectively used at frequencies more than 2 kHz.
