STUDY ON INTRAMOLECULAR ENERGY MIGRATION OF BICHROMOPHORIC COMPOUNDS BY FLUORESCENCE DEPOLARIZATION TECHNIQUE

The intramolecular energy migration of polymethylene-bis-β-naphthoate dispersed in isopentane glass(77K) and polymethyl methacrylate(PMMA) film is investigated by the use of fluorescence depolarization technique. It is found that the efficiency of energy migration is deereased as the length of polymethylene chain increases. The critical transfer distance of β-naphthoate chromophore is estimated to be about 30.
