Poster: Towards a Formal API Assessment

In this paper we discuss various factors that should be taken into consideration when assessing an API; namely fitness dimensions and their classification into technical or cognitive, priorities of fitness dimensions from a stakeholder's point of view, and importance of stakeholders. We build a formal model to describe the aforementioned assessment factors and provide a way to express an API's profile as well as the profiles of its stakeholders. We discuss how our approach can be used to choose, from a list of candidate APIs, the one that best fits the stakeholders needs.
