Narcissistic Leadership in Social andHealth CareNarcissistic behavior is complex and destructive,but problematic is to consider when recruitingleaders. This article discusses narcissistic leadership in social and health care organizations.The research is based on material collected frommanagers in Finnish health care (N=422), thatwas collected by visual frame story from 15health sector organizations in Finland 2010 to2014. Questions determining narcissistic leadership behavior were used to provide a variable,according to which the leaders were divided intonon-narcissistic and narcissistic leaders.As a result, it was found that about 58%(n=247) of executives have a narcissistic featurein their leadership behavior. The narcissisticleader has difficulty in identifying elements ofnarcissism, empathy, legitimate power, self-management, goal setting and immaterial rewards.Organizations need adequate controlled structures and transformation of leader’s attitude tointervene in narcissistic leadership in time.
