Implementation of Time Synchronization for Energy Harvesting Wireless Sensor Network

2017
In an energy-harvesting wireless network, nodes intermittently communicate while accumulating small amounts of power. It is necessary to match communication timing by synchronizing transmitting and receiving nodes, because phase errors can occur between them. In this paper, we verify synchronization accuracy by implementing reference broadcast synchronization, an autonomous time-synchronization protocol for energy-harvesting networks powered by solar cells. We demonstrate how the proposed method improves time-synchronization accuracy, even for devices with low-precision clocks.
