A fluorinated Zr-based MOF of high porosity for high CH4 storage

Abstract An organic linker H2FBDA (H2FBDA = (2E, 2′E)-3,3'-(2-fluoro-1,4-phenylene) diacrylic acid) with the electron-withdrawing fluoro-group, has been applied to construct a Zr-based metal-organic framework, the ZJU-800 (ZJU = Zhejiang University). ZJU-800, derived from UiO-66 and isostructural with NU-801, is explored for high-pressure methane storage capacity of 10.0 mmol/g at 65 bar and room temperature, with good thermal and water stability. It is shown that the amount of methane uptake is 61.2% higher than that of UiO-66 at 35 bar.
