Dual-Polarized Stacked Patch Phased Array Antenna With Cavity-Backed Configuration

As a commom form of phased array elements, microstrip patch antennas have received much attention. In this paper, a wide-band dual-polarized stacked patch phased array antenna with cavity-backed configuration is proposed. The bandwidth of the proposed anatenna element is over 24% for ±45° scan in both E and H planes while the bandwidth for ±60° scan is a bit narrower (15%) because of scan blindness. A $7\times 7$ prototype is manufactured and measured to verify the correctness of this design.
