Passive Intermodulation Measurement of Radiofrequency Interference Shielding Gasket

2019
The measurement of electromagnetic (EM) nonlinearities of materials is of paramount concern for a wide variety of application, passive intermodulation (PIM) is one of the most influential EM nonlinearities. In the microwave domain Radiofrequency interference (RFI) shielding gaskets or Electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding gaskets is comparatively a new material and its EM nonlinearities are not well known. In this research microstrip-based technique used to measure the 3rd & 5th order PIM of two types of RFI shielding gaskets and a bit of nickel used in 700MHz and 1800MHz frequency bands. The 3D modelling of the gasket in CST software also presented. The material selection for a wide variety of applications is the possible outcome of this research.
