The system comprises a mainboard, a printer and a ticket reading machine which are respectively connected with a power supply; wherein the mainboard sends a control signal to the power supply by adopting GPIO level way, and a logic circuit in the power supply turns on or off the power supplies of the printer and the ticket reading machine, thus realizing real-time control on peripheral power supply. In the lottery ticket machine energy saving system and a method thereof which are provided by the invention, energy saving technology of real-time control on peripheral power supply is adopted, user can set standby time, when idle time of system exceeds the set time, the system enters into standby state, then GPIO control way is utilized to automatically cut off the power supplies of the printer and the ticket reading machine, thus achieving the aim of saving energy source; and the peripheral power supply is turned on when the system enters into operation state, automatic configuration is completed, and normal use is realized.
