Analysis of 159 Human Rabies Cases in Ethiopia

A statistical analysis of 159 human rabies cases registered at the Veterinary Public Health Division of the Central Laboratory and Research Institute for 1980–82 inclusive is made. The basis for the analysis include such factors as variations in incubation periods, site of bite, age, source of infection, place where infection took place, vaccine failures and the use of traditional antirabies herbal medicine. The analysis is intended to show the factors influencing the incubation period and mortality due to rabies and also the source of infection of human rabies in Ethiopia.
