A Cognitive Approach to Interdiscursivity: A Case of a Literary Discourse

2015
The research aims at investigating the mechanisms which lie behind interdiscursivity, the force that prompts language users to choose it in communication and the effects it can achieve on the basis of Sperber & Wilson’s Relevance Theory. This is an attempt to show the situational, social, and mental dimensions of the role of nterdiscursivity using a number of Relevance Theory concepts, including ostensive behaviour, cognitive environments and implicatures treating interdiscursivity as an ostensive or marked form of communication.
