Numerical Method for Simulating Broadband Noise of Arbitrary Spatial Distribution with FIR Digital Filter

2007
The generation of noise field on computer by numerical simulation is important to performance analysis and feasibility validation for underwater acoustic signal processing methods. Based on the far field and uncorrelated hypothesis of noise sources,a numerical method for simulating broadband noise field of arbitrary spatial distribution with arbitrary array shape was proposed. The key for this method is to generate continuous time delay of high precision with an FIR digital filter. The spatial correlation characteristics and spatial angle spectrum of homogeneous isotropic noise generated with this method coincide approximately with theoretical analysis, which validates that this method is effective.
