Global dynamic modeling for gasoline engine

2013
Abstract The calibration tasks increase explosively by adding the control parameter of the engine for environmental protection and improvement of the fuel consumption. In engine development, model base calibration has been introduced as a calibration method. The model has reusability. It is able to reduce work repeatedly. Most of the models are static empirical models based on the steady measurement data. With the static model, one can calibrate a static behavior defined by maps or tables. On the other hand, the dynamic modeling based on a dynamic measurement attracts attention recently. These enable the gain tuning of the controller in an office and can predict fuel consumption and the emission in transient conditions. This paper reports the dynamic modeling method and validation result for modern gasoline engines.
