Thermal and mechanical properties of evacuated powders

1969
Abstract This paper summarizes the effects of environmental and intrinsic powder parameters on the thermal and mechanical properties of evacuated powders. Thermal conductivity and diffusivity are controlled primarily by the residual gas pressure, temperature, particle size and shape, and mechanical load. Bearing strength is less dependent on temperature and gas pressure, but is strongly influenced by density, particle size and shape.
