Basic Physics of Lasers

2003
Stimulated emission is an amplification process for photons, e.g. light (see Chap. 1-1). Depending on the output wavelength, its technical manifestation is a laser (light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation) or a maser (microwave amplification by stimulated emission of radiation) or a graser (gamma ray amplification by stimulated emission of radiation).
