Tribological and Self Repairing Properties of LaF_3 Particle in Lubricating Grease

The tribological properties of LaF_3 particle as grease additive were investigated by using four-ball friction testers .The self repairing performance of LaF_3 particle was also evaluated by comparing the weight of the steel balls before and after friction tests. The results indicate:after (1.5%) LaF_3 is joined among the lubricating grease, the load-carrying capacity P_B and extreme pressure P_D raise by 50% and 100% respectively very much, the wear weight of steel balls is in the \{±0.003g\}.The self repairing performance of LaF_3 for the worn surfaces is observed.
