Índices espaciais indicam carência arbórea na arborização da porção central de Gurupi, TO

The aim of the study is to evaluate the tree cover of the central area of the city of Gurupi in the Brazilian State of Tocantins, in order to assist the planning and the maintenance of the trees in public roads. The data collected were: the dimensions of public roads, number of trees and canopy diameter. Subsequently, tree density (IDA) and tree shade indexes (ISA) were calculated. The predominance of oiti (70.32%) reflects the low diversity of species, and the spatial index values are considered low for the total area. It was observed that these indices indicate insufficient number of trees to provide thermal comfort to the environment, especially in the commercial portion of the city.
