Cooling Power of Different Temperature Water and Quenching of 45 Steel in Water

2012
The cooling curves of water at different temperatures were measured with KD-CB177 all-automatic quenching medium cooling tester. The effect of water temperature on the as-quenched hardness of 45 steel was investigated. The results indicate that with the elevation of water temperature its characteristic temperature will decrease and the cooling period will be prolonged. The maximum cooling rate of water at temperatures of 20 to 40 ℃ will slowly decrease but quickly decrease at temperatures of 40 to 50 ℃
