DEVELOPMENT OF A NEW CORE MATERIAL FOR COMPOSITES IN PRIMARY STRUCTURAL APPLICATIONS

2000
This paper presents initial findings of an ongoing research program into the development of a new structural core material for fibre composites in primary structural applications. The material is a particulate composite of hollow microsphere fillers in a polymer matrix. Static flexural and compressive test results are presented for a range of different fillers and resin types. Different behavioural trends are identified and discussed. (a) For the covering entry of this conference, please see ITRD abstract no. E204495.
