Adaptive Genetic Hybrids forOrder Review and ReleaseintoProduction

2006
Over recent yearsorderreviewandrelease (ORR)hasattracted increasing attention inmanufacturing research due to itsimportant impacton production performance. Bymeansofeffectively controlling therateof inputofjobsintotheproduction system, infact, the sustainability offeasible andeconomical production levels can besignificantly enhanced. Inthiscontext ofresearch the paperproposes a hybrid decision support system(DSS)to address thesimultaneous review ofmultiple incoming orders and, thereby, supportbetterinformed acceptance and rejection decisions. TheDSS,asdeveloped forthis research, relies ontheinteractive useofsimulation andadaptive genetic hybrids, integrating local andglobal search techniques, to identify thecombination ofaccepted orders thatmaximizes production performance while reducing therisk ofaccepting sub-optimal combinations.
