Status quo and evaluation on surface sediment quality in Rushan Bay

2004
Investigation results demonstrate that the redox environment characteristics in Rushan Bay belong to weak reduction. TN, TP contents surpass the evaluation standards in local waters with the obvious regional difference and both variation features are similar to those of organic carbon and sulfide. Relatively high are both contents adjacent to the discharge mouth of shrimp pond waste water located in the bay roof and this shows the discharge of culture waste water has a definite influence on sediment quality. The pollution index of Cd is the largest with the average of 2.54 and those of other heavy metals are lower on the average less than 1.0, this illustrates that Cd will be a potential pollution factor in sediment of Rushan Bay.
