Commentry: Big Epidemiology, Cultural Competency, and Methodological Issues

Now that public health researchers are moving toward “big epidemiology” projects, it is important to acknowledge that these projects have some big advantages and disadvantages. In this commentary we highlight issues related to standardization, measurement, and implementation in light of cultural competency. If not addressed properly, these issues may compromise the results of “big epidemiology” projects. We also provide some recommendations on how to achieve cultural competencies in future work.
