Study on Antioxidant Activity of Kiwi Root Extract in Vitro

2011
[Objective] The aim is to explore antioxidation of kiwi fruit root extract in vitro.[Method] Using DPPH free radicals, superoxide, hydroxyl radicals, hydrogen peroxide and reduction force reaction system to determine antioxidation of kiwi fruit root extract in vitro and comparing with vitamin C experiments.[Result] Under experimental conditions, the scavenging or inhibition of ERHM on DPPH free radicals, superoxide anion(O-2·),hydroxyl radical(·OH) and H2O2 are stronger, and show good dose-effect relationship, also has some reducing power. The EC50 for the elimination of DPPH radical is 8.03 μg/ml and for superoxide anion(O-2·) is 1.28 mg/ml,inhibition of hydroxyl radical(·OH) capacity is up to 69.4%,when the concentration is 100 μg/ml,the clearance rate of hydrogen peroxide(H2O2) is 42%.[Conclusion] Kiwi root extract has strong reducing power, can effectively remove the DPPH and superoxide anion radicals, and inhibit the production of hydroxyl radicals. Therefore,ERHM active ingredient has the more significant antioxidant activity.
