The invention relates to a foldable steel door pedal mechanism for a ship. The foldable steel door pedal mechanism comprises a pedal rotating mechanism and a retaining strip, wherein the retaining strip is fixed on the side, far from a door hinge, at the lower part of a steel door; the pedal rotating mechanism rotates around the door hinge; the outer edge of a pedal plate is in a shape of a gradual arc, and an arm of force H exists between the force bearing point that the pedal plate is in rigid contact with the retaining strip and the central line of the door hinge. In the state that the steel door is closed, the foldable steel door pedal mechanism is in a storage state, and the pedal plate is folded upwards and placed in a clearance between a cabin wall and the retaining strip. When the steel door is opened, the retaining strip is gradually departed from the outer edge of the pedal plate until being separated from the outer edge of the pedal plate, the pedal rotating mechanism automatically falls and unfolds under the action of self gravity until being in a horizontal state, and a stop block at the root of the pedal plate is limited by a rectangular part on an eye plate, so that the pedal plate is kept horizontal. When the steel door is closed, acting force produced by the retaining strip on the pedal forms rotating torque, and the pedal is automatically rotated and folded under the push action of the retaining strip until being accommodated in the clearance between the retaining strip and the cabin wall.
