Enantioselective Synthesis of the Spirotryprostatin A Scaffold.

Catalytic enantioselective cycloaddition of azomethine ylides (II) to methylene oxindoles (I) gives pyrrolidinyl-spirooxindoles after acylation with high diastereoselectivity in most cases with exception of ortho-substituted azomethine ylides.
