Considerable evidence has accumulated within recent years indicating that germinal centres are sites of B cell proliferation, and are probably the birthplace of B memory (BM) cells (1). In addition, it is well-established that lymphoid follicles trap antigen-antibody complexes, which remain bound to follicular dendritic cells for long periods (2).
