The study of occlusal contact and force of TMD before and after orthodontic treatment
2009
Objective Compare the occlusal change of TMI) patients before and after orthodontic treatment using T-scan, to evaluate the significance of these measurement of occlusal change for TMD patients. Methods 13 TMD patients (4 males and 9 females) are selected and undergoing customized orthodontic treatment. Occlusal evaluation, including occlusai contact point (OCP), area of contact (AOC), center of force trajectory(COFT), balance of occlusion, are recorded before and after orthodontic treatment. Results The clinic symptom of all patients were all relieved. 8 patients felt much better than before. COFT is reduced significantly (P〈0. 05), and COF is close to the center (P〈0.05). The balance of occlusion was getting better (P〈0.05). The oeclusal contact point and area have no significant changes after treatment. Conclusions The COF and balance of occlusion can be used to evaluate the orthodontic treatment.
