Mass transfer of laminar flow of polystyrene suspensions in circular tubes.

1989
Mass transfer coefficients of suspensions were measured in circular tubes of 5.0 and 10.0 mm diameter. Particles used in this study were 183 μm and 322 μm in diameter and the concentration range was less than 20 %.The Sherwood number for suspensions was correlated by an empirical equation as follows : Sh=1.75Gz1/3+1.15Re0.8Sc1/3φ2.0where Gz, Re, Sc, and φ are Greatz number, Reynolds number, Schmidt number and volume fraction of particle of suspensions, respectively.
