Evaluación del nivel de aplicación de protocolos de modelación en trabajos sobre simulación del proceso lluvia-escorrentía Assessment of modelling protocols' application in papers about rainfall-runoff modelling

2009
Rainfall-runoff models are widely applied as tools to handle engineering, environmental and socio-economic problems. Success of modeling tasks and applicability of the obtained results are related to the level of accomplishment of "modeling protocols" (Dominguez, 1998; Dominguez, 2007; Organizacion Meteorologica Mundial, 1985; Refsgaard, 1998; Refsgaard and Henriksen, 2004; WMO, 1987; WMO, 1994). Every year, an important number of papers about rainfall - runoff modeling is published; in this paper we discuss at which level the recommendations of modeling protocols are followed in a random sample of 130 scientific papers published in indexed journals. It is envisaged that such analysis will provide the basis for a better understanding of the results that are published about rainfall-runoff modeling and that it will also encourage the application of modeling protocols, providing a intercomparison basis for mathematical models applied in this field.
