An experimental investigation of heat transfer crisis

Abstract The results are given of an investigation of the heat-transfer crisis in vertical steam-generation pipes with forced circulation of the coolant. The studies were carried out on pipes with a bore of 5–16 mm, at pressures of (49–196) × 10 5 n/m 2 and mass velocities of 500–8000 kg/m 2 /sec. Equations for the calculation of the critical heat flux are proposed.
