A Design Concept of Grid-loaded Step Reflector Antenna with Coaxial-Mode Excitation

A reflector antenna excited by TM01 circular waveguide mode is being studied. A reflector antenna with steps was proposed. Since this antenna cancels out half of the polarized components, the polarization loss increases, theoretically by 3dB. Therefore, we propose a desgin to improve the gain by loading a metal grid on the reflector surface, as compared to the conventional antenna design.
