Extrahepatic portal obstruction in children--experience with side-to-side lienorenal shunt without splenectomy.

Ninety one children were operated upon among 125 cases of extrahepatic portal venous obstruction. In 27 children, side-to-side lienorenal shunt was done. In 25 of 27 cases in which follow-up was available, 4 cases had rebled. There was no operative or late mortality.
