Storage effects on ninhydrin-developed fingerprints enhanced by zinc complexation

1995
Abstract A study has been made of the effects of storage on the fluorescence of latent fingermarks on paper developed with ninhydrin and zinc chloride. Exposure to sunlight or xenon arc light causes fading of the marks but the presence of moisture or high humidity results in the loss of fluorescence and the formation of a red non-fluorescent compound.
