High Temperature Separation of Hydrogen from Mixture of Gases by Using Microporous Silica Membranes

2011
This paper presents a review on the aspect of using microporous silica membranes for the separation of hydrogen from process streams. It includes an overview of recent literature and advancement and hurdles for hydrogen separation from mixture of gases. Ceramic membranes derived both from sol-gel and chemical vapor deposition (CVD) methods were discussed and compared their properties, preparation and performance in gas separation at an elevated temperature in the presence of steam or vapors.
