An LCD manufacturing method and an LCD manufactured thereby are provided to prevent a color filter substrate and a thin film transistor substrate from being separated from each other, by forming a sealant in a hole of an insulating layer. A thin film transistor having a drain electrode(143) is formed above a substrate(110). An inorganic insulating layer(151) and an organic insulating layer(152) are sequentially deposited on the thin film transistor. An organic insulating pattern is formed by pattern-etching the organic insulating layer. The organic insulating pattern has a first hole(185) for exposing the inorganic insulating layer above the drain electrode, and a second hole(186) formed by removing a portion of the organic insulating layer along a circumference of a display area. The inorganic insulating layer exposed through the first hole and the organic insulating layer remaining in the second hole are removed. A sealant(300) is formed in the second hole.
