Factors affecting students' leisure time spending ways in special schools with emphasis on physical activity

The purpose of this research was to study factors influencing students' leisure times spending ways in special schools which only emphasized on physical activity. This research was accomplished by survey-descriptive method and its population includes special high school students, their parents, teachers and experts of special schools which 291 of them (101 students, 101 parents, 30 teachers and 59 special educational experts) were chosen as samples by stratified random method. Two questionnaires were applied for collecting research data, the first was for special students which included personal information and also information related to the way of spending the leisure time in sport, and the other questionnaire was used for parents, teachers and school experts about factors influencing students' leisure times spending in Likert scale format. According to Cronbach's alpha, the reliability coefficient of the questionnaire was 0.91. The data of study were analyzed by using descriptive statistics (frequency tables, percentage and mean) and inferential statistics (t test, Friedman test, analysis of variance and Tokay post hoc test) at α= 0.05 level. Results indicated that factors influencing on special students' leisure time are including individual factors, family factors, social factors, economic factors, cultural factors, facilities and equipment. Meanwhile, teachers, experts and parents had different opinions in ranking the important and effective factors. Finally, according to their point of views, the important factors in order to priority were facilities and equipment, cultural factors, economic factors, social factors, personal factors and family factors.
