AN INTRODUCTION TO THE CUTAWAY HULL

This paper introduces a revolutionary tanker hull form. The original incentive of attempting to minimize the loss of economic efficiency with the advent of segregated ballast requirements has prompted the structuring of a principle applicable to non-segregated tankers as well. Presented are the theory behind the principle, simulated application to a 220,000 DWT tanker, and economic comparison between the Cutaway tanker and a conventional tanker.
