Montreal (1975)-The Royal Victoria Hospital Palliative Care Service

1978
Abstract The Palliative Care Service was developed after staff at the Royal Victoria Hospital, a McGill University teaching hospital, identified serious deficiencies in care of terminally ill patients and their families. The service, including both an in-hospital unit and a home care program, cares for patients for whom treatment aimed at cure or prolongation of life is no longer appropriate. Its multidisciplinary team aims to meet the medical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs of patients and their families.
