[Behavior of sodium, chlorine and potassium serum electrolytes with the use of althesin alone and in combination with succinylcholine].

1979
: Personal experience of the behaviour of sodium, chlorine and potassium serum electrolytes in patients anaesthetized first with Althesin alone and then in association with succinylcholine is reported. Sodium and chlorine changes were slight whereas potassium concentrations fall in the first 5' before tending to rise. Used as an induction agent before succinylcholine, Althesin acts as a kind of protector against the increase in potassaemia which follows succinylcholine.
