OSTEONECROSE ASEPTIQUE DE LA TETE FEMORALE CHEZ LES DREPANOCYTAIRES : ASPECTS EPIDEMIOCLINIQUE ET THERAPEUTIQUE DANS LE SERVICE DE CHIRURGIE ORTHOPEDIQUE ET TRAUMATOLOGIQUE.

Aims: Determine the hospital frequency of the aseptic necrosis of the femoral head and evaluate the treatment in the service of orthopaedic- trauma of the teaching hospital Gabriel Toure. Methods: It was about a prospective study done from January to December 2008 in all patients with necrosis of the femoral head in sickle cell disease. Lost patients and patients with incomplete file were not included. Results: We have found 32 cases among 4377 patients seen, which was 0.73%. The mean age of our patients was 31 years. The sex-ratio was 1.7 for women. Boitery was noted in 3& patients (96.9%), shortening of the leg in 28 patients (87.5%) and quadriceps amyotrophy in 20 patients (62.5%). Active movements were limited in the hip in 27 patients (84.4%). In the X-ray of the hip lesions were classed stage III in 19 patients (59.4%), stage IV in 12 patients (37.5%) and stage II in one patient (3.1%). Treatment was orthopaedic in 29% (90.6%) and surgical in 3 (9.4%). Results were judged very good in 12 patients (37.5%), good in 11 patients (34.4%) and bad in 9 (28.1%).
