Solid pseudopapillary tumor of the pancreas: A population-based comparison with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

Objective: Solid-pseudopapillary tumor of the pancreas (SPTP) is a rare neoplasm that has been investigated only in individual case series from individual institutions. Here, the goal was to perform a population-based analysis of these rare tumors. Methods: A query of the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database was made for patients with malignant SPTP and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) from 2001-2010. The primary outcome measure was five-year overall survival. Cox regression analyses were performed using age, race, gender, tumor location, stage of tumor, and histologic type.
