The results favor a hypothesis that shift in the EMG spectrum towards lower frequencies is due to an increase in the synchronization of motor unit discharges. The low-amplitude high-frequency EMG is assumed to reflect either a process of muscle reinnervation or secondary pathological changes leading to desynchronization of contractions of different muscle fibres pertaining to the same motor unit
