Sensor anomaly detection system, method, sensor abnormality detection apparatus and a computer program

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine whether a vehicle sensor operates normally or not. SOLUTION: The vehicle sensor 2 measures a traffic volume on each lane of road A and transmits the measured results to a traffic control center. Vehicles equipped with a unit enabling communication between vehicles on road, including vehicle C, create probe information of the road A and transmit it to a wireless communication device 7 on road and to the traffic control center. The detecting device 5C for detecting abnormal condition of sensor located at the traffic control center estimates the traffic volume on the road A based on the probe information at the same time and at the same location, compares it with the measured traffic volume information, and concludes an abnormal condition if the difference is a predetermined threshold or above.
