HPLC determination of pyroglutamic acid as a degradation product in parenteral amino acid formulations

The aminoacid glutamine in aqueous solution and in conditions of high temperature and long term storage is partly transformed into pyroglutamic acid which exhibits potential neurotoxic effects.
