Production of glass fiber reinforced thermoplastic resin composite

PURPOSE: To produce a glass fiber reinforced thermoplastic resin composite suitable for a stampable sheet used as a material molding a molded part requiring mechanical strength and rigidity by stamping molding. CONSTITUTION: A solution of oxime-masked hexamethylene diisocyanate (isocyanate regeneration temp.; 140°C) is applied to a glass fiber F1 and a homopolypropylene resin powder is bonded to the coated fiber. The glass fiber thus treated is cut by a rotary cutter 27 to form a glass fiber with a length of 50mm. This thermoplastic resin impregnated cut glass fiber F3 is molded into a sheet at 210°C in a sheet molding part 3 to obtain a fiber reinforced thermoplastic resin composite sheet.
